THE ORIGIN OF M.E.T
M.E.T. is the fruit of a revival which occurred in the early seventies in the D R C Congregation of Greytown. In 1987 when the Church Council decided to stop the tent mission a group of the Mission friends, who had heard of the decision, held a meeting and decided that this could not happen and that the work which had been such a blessing should go on. A Trust was formed to take care of the funding and other physical requirements while the missionary, Rev. D.B. Dick and his team would focus on the Spiritual work.
When we look back today we stand amazed at how God has kept His work going. There are presently two tents operating in areas of KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape. Each tent has an evangelist team and a follow-up team.

Through the years there was a big harvest of Sangomas
A witch doctor and her young son who was also busy with training to become a witch doctor brings their paraphernalia to be burnt.
Bheki was a sangoma for approxamently 16 years when he was saved. Since hi's conversion he is involved with MET. He also conducts a weekly program on Maputu radio. He also pastors his own church with many congregations and has a feeding scheem for orphans.
Most of our evangelists are converts from the tents. We can thankfully look back today to many converts who are actively serving in different missions. Over the years we have seen and experienced how the Lord has expanded His Kingdom
Elizabeth has, after 24 years as a sangoma, made a commitment to the Lord and was mightily by Him as a member of MET. Before her conversion she wrote the constetution for sangomas at the Universaty of Qua-Qua. She was also a high profile member of the ANC womans legue and a well established bussiness woman. Al this she sacrificed for full time ministry.

Variety of services
M.E.T. OFFERS ITS EXPERIENCE IN SERVICE OF MORE THAN 35 YEARS TO Congregations, to, among other:

HOLD CAMPAIGNS where needed
-
Equip persons (such as students, farmers, business people, members of congregations etc.) who wish to become actively involved in Mission work in an IN-SERVICE, HANDS-ON TRAINING at the tents.

To do IN-SERVICE TRAINING for pastors, evangelists and lay-workers of all acknowledged churches or groups so that they may handle, more effectively, the spiritual needs of their own people (e.g. sick-bed ministry, preaching, etc.).
OUR MODUS OPERANDI
A Tent Campaign in Two phases
Phase One: The Evangelism phase is 14 days
Phase one
-
This phase is called the Evangelical Phase. The first few evenings we teach about the lost state of man and eternal judgement. As a farmer first rips his soil, ploughs it and prepares it to receive the seed, so the first few messages are used to prepare the heart of the lost sinner to receive the seed of the Good News. Only when man realises his lost condition he will feel the need for a Redeemer and Saviour.

Then follows a description of Christ as Saviour, Redeemer, Mediator, Conciliator, Sacrifice etc. From every conceivable angle Christ is presented as the only hope of salvation.

Un-Biblical practises, such as ancestral worship, superstition, false prophets etc. are also covered.

It is only at the end of the Campaign that opportunity is presented for people to make a commitment. The reason being that people should have a clear understanding and count the cost before they would commit to such an incisive decision.
Phase Two: The follow up phase
Phase Two

During this phase a new convert is guided to break with sin and to do restitution. The purpose hereof is to convey to the convert a better understanding of Christ. If the Holy Spirit works an appreciation and understanding of Christ a life of obedience will follow.
Where do we work ?
A COUNTRY OUTREACH
M.E.T. is a Mission outreach with a vision for the unreached and neglected groups. It is for this reason that we choose not to hold campaigns in urban or semi-urban areas. Such areas are saturated with churches and spiritual help.
Research has proved that the most neglected people, spiritually are those in the rural areas and farms.

This program is maintained for the full duration of the campaign. Needless to say that the teams are exhausted at the end of the campaign. Once the tent and equipment is safely stowed away at our base in Jozini the team retires for a well deserved rest of two weeks whilst the follow up team is busy with descipling the new converts.

Aftercare
Whose Responsibility?
Paternity demands responsibility. It is for this reason that M.E.T. does not make spiritual babies and then leave them. After the initial campaign the converts are cared for spiritually and are assimilated into house churches. The after-care can sometimes spread over a number of months.

M.E.T. is a fundamental - Bible based action which acknowledges the authority of the Bible unconditionally over our lives.

M.E.T. BELIEVES THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEMS FACING OUR COUNTRY.

M.E.T. BELIEVES THAT MISSION WORK SHOULD BE THE NO.1 TASK OF THE CONGREGATION.

We do not believe in a cheap Gospel!

We believe that emotional incitement and ’high pressure evangelism’ where people are pressured to make hasty and unconsidered decisions, does more harm than good to the Kingdom of God. It is the Truth that set people free. The Spirit of God works through His Word and His WORD is the TRUTH!
